The rally champion of Bulgaria for 2016 and main contender for the victory in this year's rally “Bulgaria” Plamen Staykov with codriver David Kvaratshelia had a puncture during the 2nd section stage “Kozichino”.
Staykov, who competes this season under a Georgian license, was second in the overall standings after the 1st stage. In the second, however, he had a puncture and stopped for a while in the stage, then continued to the finish without changing the tyre. So he lost over 9 minutes and finished last in the stage.
The fastest in it was the Turkish driver Yagiz Avci with Peugeot 208 R5, who recorded 14:43.1 min and left behind Burak Chukurova with Skoda Fabia R5 (+14.9 sec). Third was Mustafa Cakal with Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 9 (+27.9 sec). First amid the Bulgarian drivers was Ignat Isaev with the codriver Milen Iliev and Citroen DS3 R3, who set 5th fastest time.
In the general classification after the 2nd stage Avci leads. He has 59.8 seconds ahead of Cukurova. Isaev is third (+1:33.1 min). Tihomir Stratiev with Peugeot 208 R2 is 5th and Grigor Grigorov with the same car 6th.
The Turkish women’s crew, Burcu Cetinkaya, with the codriver Emire Canturk dropped out of the race because after the finish of the second leg they failed to start the car and continue because of a technical problem. Petar Pavlov/Boyan Stoyanov and Riza Rizov/Ivan Ovcharov did not finish the stage because of a broken bearer and technical problem.
In the single-car championship Hyundai Racing Trophy fastest in the stage was Simeon Simeonov with the navigator Yordan Yordanov, who is ahead by more than half a minute of Martin Koev with the driver Dimo Bozukov. 3rd and 4th are Dennis Stanchovski / Mladen Karchev and Victoria Gurkova/Velislava Pavlova. In the overall standings, Simeonov is now ahead of Koev.
