The Turkish crew, Yagiz Avci/Bahadir Gühmenez with the Peugeot 208 T26 R5 won the 48th Rally Bulgaria. Second, 1:18.4 min. behind, is another Turkish duet – Burak Cukurova/Vedat Bostanci with Škoda Fabia. In 3rd place on the podium was the Bulgarian tandem Ignat Isaev/Milen Iliev with Citroen DS3 R3 Max 3:20.2 min.
The competition, whose center for the second year was is Varna, is valid for the European Rally Trophy, the Balkan Trophy, and also was the first round of Bulgarian championship and second of that of Turkey. This explains the strong presence of Turkish drivers in the ranking list. The victory intrigue ended in the second stage when the Bulgarian favorite for the victory Plamen Staykov with Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 9 under Georgian flag, had 2 punctures and that sent him back in the standings.
With his third place, Isaev led the national rally championship. He became the first in the RC3 class. Serious battle for the places outside the podium was made by 3 Bulgarian crews – the local favorite Tihomir Stratiev with the driver Zdravko Petrov with Peugeot 208 R2, Miroslav Angelov / Nedjalko Sivov with the same car and Stanislav Vladimirov with the codriver Chavdar Sabev with Opel Astra.
The difference between them was a couple of seconds. The battle won Tihomir and became the first in the RC4 class. Angelov and Sabev finished with equal time in 5th and 6th place. In the one brand championship Hyundai Racing Trophy the race won Simeon Simeonov with codriver Yordan Yordanov with Hyundai i20 Coupé. Simeon, however, achieved this after a serious battle with his main rival – Martin Kovev and Dimo Bozukov. This is evident from the small difference between them, with only one tenth in some stages.
The rally was covered by nearly 50 journalists from various Bulgarian and Turkish media.
